Overview

La Maison Française presents "Glaciers - Ice in Freefall", in collaboration with the DCEFF and French In Motion.

The DC Environmental Festival is coming back to La Maison Française with “ Glaciers - Ice in Freefall”, a film produced by Gedeon Programmes and directed by Pierre-Olivier François and Judith Rueff.

Join us for the screening of the film, followed by a Q&A session with Dr. Heidi Sevestre, glaciologist, author, fellow international of The Explorers Club, working at the Secretariat of the Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme, one of the Working Groups to the Arctic Council. Heidi Sevestre is just back from a scientific mission in Antarctica!

About Glaciers - Ice in Freefall :

The consequences of melting glaciers are manyfold and are ever more tangible (collapsing glaciers, overflowing glacial lakes, rising sea levels, destabilization of ocean currents). Teams of scientists, glaciologists and economists around the world are racing against time to map out, monitor, and understand the mechanisms involved and better anticipate the impact on millions of lives. In partnership with UNESCO and as part of the launch of the international Decade of Glacier Preservation 2025, this film will offer a global approach to the subject to inform and nourish the debate.
